PENN YAN—Democratic Congressional Candidate Tracy Mitrano (NY-23) announced that the alternative rock band 10,000 Maniacs will be hosting a “Rock the Vote” concert on October 6, 2018, to support her campaign. The world-famous group, which has released four Top 50 albums in its 37-year history, has deep Southern Tier roots. It was founded in Jamestown in 1981.

“I am thrilled to have the backing of the 10,000 Maniacs, and I’m thrilled about this concert!” Mitrano said. “This campaign is a grassroots movement that keeps on growing, and make no mistake: we’re going to ‘rock the vote’ on October 6th and all the way to Election Day in November.”

The concert will be held at the Scharmann Theatre of Jamestown Community College, located at 525 Falconer Street, Jamestown, N.Y. 14701. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for those with V.I.P. backstage access, and the show will begin at 7:30 p.m.

“I’m impressed with Tracy’s incredible résumé, intelligence, and ability to have honest conversations about our shared issues. This is a woman who cares about the people of the 23rd district,” said Steven Gustafson, bass guitarist for 10,000 Maniacs. “I think it’s time we put smart women in power to run the House. It seems to me that there are a lot of men in government who are beholden to large corporate money. They’re in it for the wrong reasons. Tracy is in it for all of us.”

Those interested in attending can go online to https://secure.actblue.com/donate/oct610kmaniacs and purchase an online voucher, which can be exchanged for a ticket at the box office in the weeks prior to the event (box office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday) or at Jamestown Community College on the evening of the concert.

General admission tickets are $23. Interested concertgoers will also have the opportunity to purchase special V.I.P. tickets for $50, which include a meet-and-greet and photo opportunity with the 10,000 Maniacs and Mitrano.
