ELMIRA—Today, Democratic Congressional Nominee Tracy Mitrano (NY-23) issued the following statement regarding Representative Tom Reed’s press conference at Elmira College about his role in the U.S. House of Representatives Problem Solvers Caucus.

“Time and again, we see Tom Reed completely renege on his promise to be bipartisan when he walks across the U.S House floor to vote,” Mitrano said.

“Reed returns home and insists that he is a problem solver on the issues that matter most to us—affordable health care, a high-quality education, and investing in infrastructure. If that were true, then why did he repeatedly vote to undo protections for people with pre-existing conditions, against easing the burden of crippling student loan debt, and fail to provide federal support for the necessary infrastructure for our district?”

“New York’s 23rd District deserves a representative who fights to bring economic opportunity back to the Southern Tier. We will do that by investing in health care, education, and infrastructure. Tom Reed isn’t fighting for you—but I will.”
